Well, it took me over a month, but I finally got the past shows pages up again. I was able to listen to all of Neko Case’s “Middle Cyclone” and part of Department of Eagles’ “In Ear Park” while I did it, and I’m pretty sure I wore off a couple layers of skin on my index finger.
That’s what you get with me though – dedication.
A bunch of new movies have been booked for midnight shows and should be adding to your calendars the next time they refresh the feed. Also, the theater is now Twittering – so if you’re into that sort of thing, you can follow us here: http://twitter.com/DundeeTheatre
I’ll have a link up on the site’s more page some time, not now though – now I am tired, my arm itches, and I think I’m going to go out for a drink to celebrate my accomplishments – knocking two things off my long standing to-do list: fixing the past shows pages and posting to this blog.
They’d been on my whiteboard for so long it stained it forever.
Site Update 4/23
April 23rd, 2009Site Update 3/10
March 10th, 2009This blog is the newest feature of the website, introduced today along with the “More” page. Since you had to visit that page to get here you know what it’s all about. The Facebook link is coming soon, Matt is working on it, and the calendar feature is pretty handy, you can now subscribe to the midnight movie calendar in your favorite calendar program (we’re Mac users so we made it on iCal and prefer it or Google Calendar).
This comes after a big server switch that may have gone unnoticed we went from http://www.dundeetheatre.com/ to http://dundee.morancinemas.com/ our old server was slow, would often take the site down for hours at a time and was all-around shit-tastic. So we moved all the sites (Westwood and Omni as well) onto one server and under one domain. The old addresses are set up to redirect now so all the old links around the web still work fine.
About a month ago I redid the “Past Shows” pages, splitting them up by year. I fucked them up when I changed the old “MySpace” link to “More” today so they will be back up again soon, but they look much nicer than the huge list they replaced. It is interesting to look back on our program over the years – naturally I’m partial to the 2007 line up.
Around that same time the Midnight Movies page added one more listing and dropped the links at the bottom for “Print a Flyer” (which I never did get around to) “Rules” and “Past Shows”. “Rules” and “Past Shows” moved to the top of the page and are less noticeable now, but I haven’t thought of a way to make that better yet. Perhaps a right align on that text?
I did the 3rd overhaul of the site a few months ago, although you probably didn’t notice. It kept the same over-all design but is now centered on the page instead of aligning left. That pretty much out’s me as a self-taught web designer, but I don’t care. My websites are all done by hand initially, then I design digitally, I can’t think in code – that’s for nerds.
About The Site
March 10th, 2009Hello, my name is Jeremy Kruse and I am the webmaster for the Dundee Theater (and also the other Moran Cinemas theaters the Westwood 8 and Omni 4). I’ve been doing the Dundee’s site since 2006, it used to be a single page site with a huge poster of the current movie followed by a huge poster for the midnight movie and some show times, dissatisfied I redid the whole site (the first of 3 times now).
In addition to designing the whole site from scratch I also update it every week. I write every word of text and format every image for the site.
I was also a day-to-day employee of the theater from March of 2006 until April of 2008, so if you went to a Midnight Movie during that time chances are pretty good I sold you the ticket. Of course all good things must come to an end and I have since moved to Portland, Oregon where I do pretty much the same job at a theater here called The Academy.
Giving up the websites I had worked so hard on (and the extra income) didn’t seem logical since I can easily continue doing them from here, and for the past 7 months these sites have been done by someone who hasn’t been in the Dundee Theater since around Christmas.
Ahhh technology.

The Point
We have always wanted to provide our customers with a highly personal experience at our theater (because let’s face it – our “Miami Vice” inspired lobby isn’t keeping you coming back) and this blog is simply another effort to do so. We encourage you to participate by registering and commenting on our posts, we will try to respond and keep the conversation going. It’s called a dialog, you’ll hear more about it when you’re in a relationship – but it won’t be as fun.
